RULES

Have fun this is not serious

Teams are due by start of the race.  If it is a Sunday race and its rained out then a new team can be resubmitted before the race starts Monday Morning.  If laps are started on Sunday or Saturday then that team will be locked in for the next day if the race is stopped and pushed back to the next day.

Penalties will only be reflected for the driver who gets the penalty.  If your driver scores 30 points and is issued a 35-point penalty you will only lose 30 points.  You will not be penalized for other drivers who did not break the rules.  The new 2019 rule for disqualifications will mean your driver will get a 0.  There will no additional point penalties piled on top of that if Nascar issues them.

For week 1 the price limit is 25 million for 7 drivers.  You must submit a team with 7 drivers. If a team is submitted with 6 drivers there will be a penalty of the highest scoring driver being deducted from your score and an additional 25 point penalty.  The money bank for your week will automatically be 25 million and no saved money will move to the following week.  For teams with more than 7 drivers your highest scoring finishers will be eliminated until you get to or below the budget you are allowed.  If you spend over the allotted limit for week 1 or any other week then your highest finishers will be eliminated until the price comes down to equal or go below your team money bank.  Whatever money you save from week 1 will carry over to the next week.  If you spend 24 million in week 1 then week 2 money bank will be 26 million for you.  If you spend 23 in week 2 then the extra 2 million will be added to your money bank total of 26 for a new total of 28.  Anytime you spend under 25 million in a week you will have more to use for the following week.  This should make strategy fun each week for those important wins.

The Flex Spending money bank will end at the end of the regular season.  All Rounds of the playoff races will have a spending limit of 25 Million.  Flex spending will only be in segments of 3 races.  Round 1 will start out at 25 Mil and any money saved can be used for race 2 and any money saved after race 2 can be used for race 3.  When round 2 starts then the money bank will be reset to 25 mil.  This should give everyone an equal chance to compete in the playoffs.  So race 26 is the last race we will use our flex spending for the regular season.  The playoffs will start at race 27 and that is when we will start our playoff flex spending.

Scoring is simple.  For the season you get 1 stage point for every stage win and 5 points for every week won to help you in the chase.  You get stage points by having drivers who finish in the top ten at the end of stage 1 and stage 2.  They are awarded 10 points for a stage win, 9 points for 2nd place, 8 points for 3rd, 7 points for 4th, 6 points for 5th, 5 points for 6th, 4 points for 7th, 3 points for 8th, 2 points for 9th, and 1 point for 10th.  You get the finishing points for where the driver finishes.  1st place gets 40 points, 2nd place gets 35 points, 3rd thru 35th get from 34-2 points, and 36th thru 40th get 1 point.  The winner each week will be the team with the highest stage points and race finish points combined.

There is a regular season champion.  The regular season champion will get 15 extra points, 2nd place gets 10 extra points, 3rd place gets 8 extra points, 4th place gets 7 extra points, 5th place gets 6 extra points, 6th place gets 5 extra points, 7th place gets 4 extra points, 8th place gets 3 extra points, 9th place gets 2 extra points, and 10th place gets 1 extra point.

Stage points and weekly wins carry over into chase.  For each round you make it those points carry over from regular season as well as each stage from chase.  They do not carry over to season finale.  The remaining chaser will be at 0.

Stage wins and race wins will no longer have a tie breaker.  If multiple teams have the same score at the end of each stage then all teams will win the stage.  Playoff points were important last season and I felt many racers lost valuable points during the racing season on stage tie breakers.

If at the end of each playoff round if there is a tie for a score then the tie breaker is decided like this.

  • Round 1 if there is a tie then first tie breaker is number of wins during round 1 of the playoffs.  If still tied then it goes by stage wins during round 1 of the playoffs.  If all teams are tied then it goes by regular season total wins.  If still tied then we go by regular season stage wins.  If still tied then we go by regular season point totals. If still tied then all tied drivers will move onto the next round.

  • Round 2 if there is a tie then first tie breaker is number of wins during round 2 of the playoffs.  If still tied then it goes by stage wins during round 2 of the playoffs.  If still tied then we go round 1 wins.  If still tied then we go by round 1 stage wins. If still tied then we go by Round 1 point total.  If still tied then we go by regular season wins.  If still tied then we go by regular season stage wins.  If still tied then we go by regular season point totals.  If still tied then all teams move onto next round.  If all teams are tied then it goes by regular season total wins.  If still tied then we go by regular season stage wins.  If still tied then we go by regular season point totals. If still tied then all tied drivers will move onto the next round.

  • Round 3 if there is a tie then first tie breaker is number of wins during round 3 of the playoffs.  If still tied then it goes by stage wins during round 3 of the playoffs.  If still tied then we go round 2 wins.  If still tied then we go by round 2 stage wins. If still tied then we go by Round 2 total points.  If still tied then we go by round 1 wins. If still tied then all tied drivers move onto next round.

  • If it is the championship race then it is wins from all 9 previous races.  If still tied then it is stage wins from all 9 previous races.  If still tied then it is the total playoff points from previous 9 races.  If for some chance there is a tie after all that then it will go regular season win total.  If still tied then it will go regular season stage wins.  And last if still tied then it is the full season total points.  Hopefully there is still no tie.  If so then we have Co-Champions.  They deserved it.

Depending on how many leaguers join is how we will define each round for the chase.

The season finale does not issue stage points to the chase drivers.  If you select them on your team I do count the stage points if any chase drivers accumulate them.

Please email your team to phillip.gray11@gmail.com or text me at 443-271-5003 so I can have your team.  I will try to send out everyone teams so everyone knows who has who and can kind of keep track while watching the race.

I will have results and price sheet out each week by Tuesday once entry list is posted.

If you see any rules that should be added or changed please let me know.  If you have any questions please let me know.  Let's have fun and lets go racing.
